SUMMER LETTER
MASTERWORKS CHORALE 2010 – 2011
Dear MasterWorks Chorale Members Past, Present, and Future:
This Summer is going by all too quickly, and the Fall soon will be upon us! It's
a pleasure for Kip Coerper and I to work with you this season – we certainly know
and love the Chorale. We've been planning the schedule and music for 2011-
Annual Christmas Concert Sunday, December 18
St. Mary's of the Lake, Skaneateles Annual Christmas Concert
Christmas carols and music of the season
Winter Concert Sunday, March 4
St. Mary's Church, Auburn Requiem, Gabriel Fauré
Soprano and Baritone soloists, tba
Annual Fundraiser Sunday, May 6
Springside Inn, Auburn Americana – details pending
Music old and new to show off the Chorale Ensembles and solos, tba
We have thirteen rehearsals for the Christmas Concert, eight for the Winter Concert, and eight for the Fundraiser, not counting dress rehearsals. Kip and I are thinking about adding a second dress rehearsal, but let's see how it goes. We would like to get everything done on Tuesdays, but an added dress rehearsal would really help us.
Our season includes the incomparable Requiem by Gabriel Fauré. St. Mary's Church in Auburn will make that performance a highlight. The flexible format of the Fundraiser allows us to show off pieces new and old, along with ensemble and solo work.
We welcome new and experienced singers to our rehearsals. Kip and I promise you rehearsals focused on singing, ensemble, and music mastery. Even though Maureen has retired, this is not the time for people to think they should do the same! Please come and sing with us – we need you, and you'll enjoy the music. Please extend your own invitations for people to join us. It's the personal invitation that makes all the difference. If new singers will come for a few rehearsals, I bet they'll want to continue. We invite singers of all types and ages, from high school on up.
One of the best things we can do is to participate in music. It's fun, it's enjoyable, it's hard work, and it's rewarding! The Chorale really is YOU, so Kip and I want to make this season both a pleasure and a challenge, and keep us working together. Enjoy the rest of the Summer! See you very soon…
