Dr. Daniel Paul Larson joined the MasterWorks Chorale in September 2007, singing
bass, serving as Assistant Conductor, and in 2009-10 filling in as Conductor during
Maureen McCauley’s sabbatical.
A native of Ventura, California, who grew up in Jamestown, New York, he completed
his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at the Eastman School of Music of the University
of Rochester and his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Conservatory of Music of
the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He spent twenty years in Kansas City, serving
as Founding Chair of the Department of Humanities at Avila University, as Professor
of Music, and as Executive Director of the Goppert Theatre. He became Dean of Arts
and Sciences at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor, Michigan; Vice-President
for Academic Affairs at St. Charles Community College in St. Peters, Missouri; and,
Vice-President for Instruction at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, New York.
In August 2007, he was appointed the seventh president of Cayuga Community College,
with campuses in Auburn and Fulton. Trained as a classical singer and conductor,
he has worked with numerous academic, professional, government, community, and music
organizations throughout his career.
He and Marianne live in Auburn.
